Edward Noeltner’s Los Angeles-based Cinema Management Group announced the development hot on the heels of Samuel Goldwyn Films’ US acquisition.
Michael McGowan’s drama stars James Cromwell and Genevieve Bujold in the true story about an 89-year-old man who takes on the Canadian government in his bid to build a home for his ailing wife.
“We’re thrilled to be involved with a film that captures the essence of unwavering love the way Still does,” said Noeltner. “It’s a story that anyone who has elderly parents can easily relate to. The emotional intensity and passion of this film is what will make Still a great success both domestically and certainly internationally.”
“The heart of the film is a love story that’s laced with wry humour,” said McGowan, who wrote the original screenplay. “It takes the audience on an emotional journey, one that makes audiences laugh and cry.”
Noeltner negotiated the deal with Ben Weiss of Paradigm Talent Agency on behalf of the producers. Weiss was also in action last week on the US sale to Samuel Goldwyn Films.
Mongrel Media pre-bought Still for Canada and plans a theatrical release in early 2013.
