Doug Smith has been appointed CFO of Canadian distributor D Films Corporation and will oversee the company’s finance, accounting, and television licensing.

Smith most recently ran his own consultancy and before that served more than a decade at Alliance Atlantis Motion Picture Distribution where he served as executive vice- president responsible for sales and operational activities.

“Doug is a well respected entertainment executive whose extensive financial and industry experience will be a major asset to D Films’ operations,” D Films president and CEO Jim Sherry said.

D Films has an exclusive long-term output deal with Icon UK and in addition has acquired exclusive long-term term rights to 12 independent films including the SXSW hit Monsters.
