Dead Man’s Burden takes place in 1870 in the aftermath of the Civil War as a young couple try to make a living in New Mexico. Clare Bowen and David Call star.

  • Magic Stone Productions and Brainstorm Media will release Michael Paul’s documentary The American Scream, which chronicles three households as they transform their homes into Halloween wonderlands. The film will open in theatres in November and will also be available through Tugg in cities where it is not currently booked.
  • Alexander Poe’s comedy Ex-Girlfriends will open theatrically on Nov 30 and FilmBuff will distribute on iTunes, Amazon Instant View and other digital platforms on Nov 27.
  • Kino Lorber has struck a deal with Eurocine to release the latter’s catalogue of cult classics in North America, starting with Spanish director Jess Franco’s erotic thrillers Female Vampire and Exorcism on Oct 16.
  • Gut Productions and Biff Juggernaut will partner on the Oct 26 limited theatrical release of the thriller Gut. FilmBuff will distribute writer-director writer/director Elias’s film digitally in North America. Gut centres on an ominous video that brings ruin.
