French-Canadian actor Xavier Dolan’s feature directorial debut is a semi-autobiographical tale about a gay Quebecois teenager living with his single mother.

Kino Lorber plans a full theatrical release for the 2009 film in the autumn before rolling it out on home video and VoD.

Anne Dorval stars alongside Dolan in I Killed My Mother, which went on to become a staple on the international festival circuit and represented Canada in the foreign language Oscar race.

Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber and vp of theatrical distribution Gary Palmucci negotiated the deal in Cannes with Rezo head of international sales Sébastien Chesneau.

The companies previously collaborated on Mademoiselle Chambon and Khodorkovsky.
