Open Road Films will release its newly acquired Sundance feature nationwide on June 12.

The urban coming-of-age film premiered in the US Dramatic Competition last weekend (January 24) and follows the life of a high school student from a tough Los Angeles neighbourhood as he navigates his way through college.

Rich Famuyiwa wrote and directed Dope, which stars Shameik Moore, Tony Revolori, Kiersey Clemons, Blake Anderson, Zoe Kravitz, A$AP Rocky and Chanel Iman.

Forest Whitaker and Nina Yang Bongiovin produced and Michael Y Chow, Famuyiwa and David Lonner served as executive producers.

Sony will distribute Dope internationally.
