Vitagraph Films and FilmBuff have signed deals to handle the US theatrical and VOD release respectively of Chris Smith’s documentary Collapse.

Vitagraph will open the film at New York’s Angelika Theater and FilmBuff will simultaneously premiere the film on cable nationwide on November 6.

In Collapse, which premiered at Toronto, Smith interviews former Los Angeles police officer turned independent reporter Michael Ruppert, who predicted the current financial crisis in a self-published newsletter at a time when most Wall Street and Washington analysts were still in denial.

The film-makers negotiated the deal with David Shultz and Margot Gerber’s Vitagraph and Cinetic Media, which operates FilmBuff.
