Sheffield Doc/Fest reveals first line-up of guests for 2013

Michael Palin, Melvyn Bragg and Adam Buxton among confirmed guests at the festival’s 20th annual event.

The first speakers at this year’s Sheffield Doc/Fest, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in June, have been unveiled.

Award-winning broadcaster Melvyn Bragg will offer his take on the role of the arts on television while showing some of his favourite TV moments.

Monty Python comedian and travel presenter Michael Palin will discuss his documentary journeys to all corners of the earth.

BBC2 controller Janice Hadlow will discuss docs and the schedule with Sue Perkins, the co-presenter of hit culinary series The Great British Bake Off.

Channel 4’s chief creative officer, Jay Hunt, will talk about how the broadcaster is changing in its post-Big Brother era.

Executive producer Alex Graham will discuss genealogy format Who Do You Think You Are?, which has run for a decade on the BBC and has been adapted for the US.

Director John Dower will reflect on a year following gold medal winning cyclist Bradley Wiggins for doc On Tour With Bradley Wiggins.

In addition, comedian and presenter Adam Buxton will present The Best of BUG, dedicated to the most creative music videos currently on release.

Sheffield Doc/Fest runs from June 12-16.
