Niemeyer Centre in Aviles next year to launch exhibition, which will travel to Rome and New York.

Legendary cinematographer Carlo Di Palma (1925 to 2004) (pictured) is to be the subject of The Colours Of My Life, an exhibition and retrospective
at the Niemeyer Centre in Aviles next year.

Details of the exhibition were announced in Cannes this week in the presence of Di Palma’s widow Adriana Chiesa and of Cannes boss Gilles Jacob.

The cinematographer, whose mother was a flower seller on the Spanish Steps in Rome, worked with directors from Woody Allen to Michelangelo
Antonioni and Luchino Visconti, from Bernardo Bertloccui to Vittorio De Sica.

Next year’s tribute to Di Palma promises to be on an epic scale. Among other elements, there will be a 40 film retrospective, a book written by film historian Sergio Toffetti and a photographic and multimedia exhibition. The exhibition will be held in the new building designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. It will then travel to Rome, where the retrospective will be shown in the Cineteca Nazionale. The Di Palma tribute is also expected to be seen eventually in New York, the city where Di Palma’s lived for many years.
