Scott Eastwood stars in the action drama, set to debut at AFM.

Mercury Plains

Grindstone Entertainment Group has acquired the North American distribution rights to action-thriller Mercury Plains, starring Scott Eastwood (Fury, Suicide Squad), with distribution handled by Lionsgate Home Entertainment.

The deal was struck between Carnaby International’s director of international sales, Tania Sarra, and Grindstone’s head of acquisitions, Stan Wertlieb.

London-based Carnaby International, which is handling worldwide sales, will screen extended promo footage from Mercury Plains to buyers in Toronto this week.

Pre-sales interest has been strong, according to Carnaby, and Mercury Plains will have its world industry premiere at the American Film Market (AFM) in November.

Starring Eastwood, Nick Chinlund and Angela Sarafyan, the film centres on a young man who runs away to Mexico where he is recruited by the captain of a parliamentary group of teens who fight drug cartels.

Currently in post-production with delivery expected for Q1 2016, the film is directed and written by Charles Burmeister and produced by Houston Hill and Eric Watson (Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain).
