Game of Thrones star joins supernatural thriller, based on an original idea by David S Goyer.

Lava Bear Films and Phantom Four have found a their star for supernatural thriller The Forest.

Focus Features will distribute in North America on January 8, 2016. Good Universe and Lava Bear handle international.

Natalie Dormer, who stars in Game Of Thrones and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2, will take the lead in the story about a woman who goes in search of her twin sister in Japan’s haunted Aokigahara forest at the foot of Mt Fuji.

Jason Zada directs from a script rewritten by Sarah Cornwell and Nick Antosca based on an original idea by David S Goyer.   

Lava Bear is producing with Goyer through his Phantom Four label. 

Lava Bear president Tory Metzger oversees the production.

The Aokigahara forest is also the setting for The Sea Of Trees, the unrelated project starring Matthew McConaughey that Bloom is selling.
