Columbia readies Bad Teacher 2
The studio is developing Bad Teacher 2 and has set Jake Kasdan to direct the comedy from a screenplay by Justin Malen.
The project is being developed for Cameron Diaz to reprise her role however no deal has been signed yet. The 2011 original grossed a little over $100m in North America and $115m internationally.
Jimmy Miller, Jake Kasdan, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky will produce and Melvin Mar is on board as executive producer.
Columbia svp of production Jonathan Kadin will oversee development alongside president of production Hannah Minghella.
It was announced recently that Bad Teacher will air on CBS television next season in a half-hour series starring Ari Graynor. The Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios co-production received a 13-episode mid-season order.
Kasdan is in pre-production on Sony Pictures’ Sex Tape, also starring Diaz and her Bad Teacher co-star Jason Segel.
