Highsmith thriller sells for Sierra/Affinity
Nick Meyer has reported a slew of sales on Untitled Patricia Highsmith, with Sony taking multiple territories on the psychological thriller that will now also star Eddie Marsan.
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has acquired rights for the UK, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand, Scandinavia, Canada, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, Benelux, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czech, Slovakia, former Yugoslavia, Greece, Cyprus and Iceland.
Production got underway in Cincinnati last week on the story starring Patrick Wilson, Jessica Biel and Haley Bennett.
Andy Goddard makes his feature directorial debut and Killer Films’ Christine Vachon and David Hinojosa produce alongside Ted Hope and Sierra Pictures, which finances the project with 120dB Films and Electric Shadow.
Sierra / Affinity also licensed rights in Germany (Wild Bunch), CIS (Zao West), Switzerland (Ascot Films), Baltics (Acme), Thailand (IPA), Middle East (Eagle), Israel (United King) and Asia pay TV (Star TV).
Sierra / Affinity has licensed Untitled Patricia Highsmith in more than 25 territories. CAA represents US rights.
Susan Boyd optioned the rights and adapted the screenplay from Highsmith’s 1954 novel The Blunderer, about a married architect drawn into a game of cat-and-mouse with a killer.
