UK producers body Pact has appointed Paul Smith as its new head of communications.
Smith is currently executive director of Noctis, the UK trade body for bars and clubs. He previously worked in communications for Channel 4 and as head of press at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
He will take up the new post in January, replacing Clare Naden, who moved back to her native New Zealand.
John McVay, chief executive of Pact said: “Paul’s extensive experience in the industry coupled with his recent success at Noctis gives him a unique combination of skills and experience that will serve Pact and its members well over the coming years. I look forward to working with closely him as we continue to promote the interests of independent producers in a new era.”
