Valhalla's Gale Anne Hurd gets her man for The Hunted

Valhalla Motion Pictures has announced its second director hire in two days, putting Kaare Andrews in the hot seat for assassin thriller The Hunted.

Company chief Gale Anne Hurd will produce and Illuminati Entertainment’s Ford Lytle Gilmore will serve as executive producer.

Andrews will direct from his own screenplay about an assassin in his 20s who refuses to kill a young girl and goes on the run from her bodyguards and the man who trained him.

Andrews is in post-production on the supernatural thriller Altitude featuring Jessica Lowndes and Julianna Guill and has won awards for his work as a writer and illustrator for Marvel Comics.

Valhalla creative executive Ben Roberts and Illuminati’s Gilmore brought the project to Hurd.

“In Valhalla’s first meeting with Kaare, our team was impressed by his compelling visual sense as well as his ability as a storyteller,” Hurd said. “Kaare is a very exciting new film-maker, and we are delighted to be working with him on The Hunted.”

On Tuesday Valhalla, Platinum Studios and Top Cow Productions unveiled Ryuhei Kitamura as the director for the comic book adaptation Magdalena.

Andrews is represented by Pacific Artists’ Carmen Bonnici, Aperture Entertainment’s Adam Goldworm and attorney Harris M Miller.
