Among this week’s highlights is an adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s The Scapegoat, as well as a road trip comic thriller starring Talulah Riley and Tim Roth.

Matthew Rhys and Eileen Atkins will star in The Scapegoat, an Island Pictures production that will be directed by Charles Sturridge, who also wrote the screenplay adaptation to du Maurier’s eponymous novel. The film centres on a man who meets his doppelganger and, after a drunken night they accidentally swap lives. Dominic Minghella and Sarah Beardsall are producing. The drama received financial backing from ITV Global and Content Film, with the latter also handling international sales.  Shooting is scheduled to start in November.

In November principal photography will also kick off on The Liability, a comic thriller about two hitmen - one just starting out, the other ready to retire - who are brought together by a deadly female vigilante. Craig Viveiros will direct from a screenplay by John Wrathall, and Richard Johns and Rupert Jermyn are producing for Corona Pictures.  Talulah Riley and Tim Roth will star. The feature received financial support from Northern Film And Media. AV Pictures acquired worldwide sales rights.
