Spain's Grupo PI will handle international sales on San Sebastian competition entry Aro Tolbukhin In The Mind Of A Killer (Aro Tolbukhin En La Mente Del Asesino).

Directed by Agusti Villaronga, Lydia Zimmermann and Isaac P Racine, and based on an historical figure, the film works as a false documentary to reconstruct the story of a Hungarian man accused of killing seven people in Guatemala in 1981. Daniel Gimenez Cacho (La Virgen De La Lujuria) stars.

Aro Tolbukhin marks the second of three co-productions between Spain's Oberon Cinematografica and Mexico's Altavista. The first was Oberon chief Antonio Chavarrias' own Volveras, the story of the damaging relationship between two brothers, premiering through Lauren Films in Spain on October 11.

The two cross-Atlantic partners are now prepping comedy Cigarrillos, Desamores Y 20 Diamantes with Diego Luna (Y Tu Mama Tambien), Marta Belaustegui (Gitano) and Gimenez Cacho set to star.

Directed by Hugo Rodrigez from a script by Argentine writer Martin Salinas, the film begins shooting September 30 in Mexico. Additional co-producers include Fidecine and Videocine (Mex), Arca Difusion, Cinecolor and R&P (Arg).

Grupo Pi was launched as a rights broker and channel packager in 2001 by Spanish producers Enrique Cerezo, Cartel, Globomedia and BocaBoca. Its current catalogue comprises more than 6,000 film and TV titles.
