Peter Stormare also joins the voice cast for the animated 3D feature Moomins and the Comet Chase.

Famous father and son actors Stellan Skarsgard and Alexander Skarsgard will lead the voice cast of new 3D animated feature Moomins and the Comet Chase, voicing Moominpapa and son Moomintroll. Peter Stormare has also joined the voice cast as Snufkin.

As previously reported, Finnish production company Oy Filmkompaniet is bringing the popular Finnish franchise to the big screen (the company’s CEO, Tom Carpelan, is producing). Maria Lindberg is directing the film from a script by Joel Backstrom, Iivo Baric, Anders Larsson and Minna Karvonen.

Stellan Skarsgard said in a statement: “This universe of the Moomins is a universe where dreams are looked at with love and care. And the attitude towards people and reality doesn’t have to be always so practical, but it has to be curious, friendly, and always feeling that something really good, really interesting could happen.”

Bjork and Andrzej Rokicki are doing original music for the project.

Moomins and the Comet Chase is now in post and being readied for a theatrical launch in autumn 2010. NonStop Sales is handling worldwide sales.
