EXCLUSIVE: Hong Kong-based Media Asia has picked up international rights to mainland Chinese thriller Death Trip, starring Korean actress Han Boreum.

Produced by Fiction 9 Inc, the film tells the story of couple on a road trip in Malaysia who pick up a lone female hitchhiker (Han), who turns out to be vicious psychopath on a revenge mission.

The film marks the comeback of renowned Hong Kong genre director Billy Tang, whose credits include Dr Lamb (1992), Run And Kill (1993) and Casino (1998). The couple are played by Malaysian actor Victor Wang and Chinese actress Zeng Yongti.

Fiction 9 was established by a trio of well-known Asian film producers – Polly Yeung, Lim Young Chien and Li Yunfei. Media Asia also picked up Malaysian horror In The Dark earlier in the market.
