Tom Strudwick has joined UK-based The Works Media Group as head of acquisitions.

Strudwick is the former VP, acquisitions and production, at United Artist. He started his career in 1991 at Manifesto Film Sales before moving to Ciby Sales.

Norman Humphrey, chief executive of The Works Media Group said: 'Tom is an extremely experienced acquisitions executive. We firmly believe that his background and taste will be a tremendous asset to us and match our ambition for the company both internationally and in the UK'.

The Works UK Distribution recently had a UK box-office hit with Julie Delpy's Two Days in Paris and forthcoming releases include Closing The Ring.

Throughout his career, Strudwick has worked on films including Muriel's Wedding, The Piano, Topsy Turvy, All About My Mother and The Virgin Suicides.
