The Weinstein Company (TWC) international president Glen Basner has closed a raft of deals on Mikael Hafstrom's horror film 1408 ahead of the European Film Market.

Rights have gone to Senator (Germany), Paramount (UK), TFM (France), West Film (Russia), EEAP (Eastern Europe), Imagem (Latin America), Taewon (South Korea), and Village Roadshow (Australia and New Zealand).

Deals also closed in CMC (Taiwan), Lusomundo (Portugal), Deltamac (Hong Kong), Major Cinepictures (Thailand), Film Pop (Turkey), Odeon (Greece), Italia (Middle East), PT Amero (Indonesia), and Viva (Philippines).

The Dimension Films title is based on a Stephen King short story about a cynical paranormal investigator who checks into a notorious haunted hotel room and stars John Cusack and Samuel L Jackson.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura produced 1408, which will be released in North America through MGM on July 13.

'I am thrilled to have established such fine distributors for the haunting 1408,' Basner said. 'This gives us great momentum as the market commences in Berlin.'

TWC International recently signed a deal with Artport in Japan to distribute the Dimension titles Rogue, Feast, and Pulse.

Basner will also be selling here Rob Zombie's re-imagining of the horror classic Halloween, set to open in North America in October.
