Veteran Italian film director Lina Wertmuller is lining up afilm about the South-East Asia tsunami, which is set to star Sophia Loren.

In an interview with Italian daily Il Corriere della Sera, Wertmuller said she plans to shoot the film in thebeach resorts that have been destroyed by the tsunami. The film's working titleis Dream Islands (Le Isole del Sogno).

Wertmuller explained that the film, which she is currentlywriting, will not be a straightforward account of the events that unfurled inSouth East Asia on December 26, 2004.

"Instead, the idea is to use the disaster as a means ofexploring a scourge that festers below the surface. These 'dream islands' arealso destinations of the sexual tourism trade. There, children are sold, andthere is organ trafficking and countless other evils," Wertmuller said.

Wertmuller's credits include Swept Away and 1975's PasqualinoSettebellezze, which earned her a bestdirector Oscar nomination.

The 78-year-old director's last film, Peperoni Ripieni ePesci in Faccia, a romantic comedy starringSophia Loren and F. Murray Abraham, will be released in Italy in September.
