Production has begun on the first Irish feature to film inthe Republic of Ireland this year. Element Films', Boy Eats Girl, reunites producer Ed Guiney with director StephenBradley his former partner in Temple Films which developed and producedBradley's debut film, Sweety Barrett.

A comedy horror tale of a date that goes badly wrong, Boy Eats Girl stars Irish singerSamantha Mumba (pictured) in the lead role, following her film debut in The Time Machine. The eponymous boy isplayed by David Leon from Cutting It(TV), and the forthcoming Alexander.The film is the second outing for writer Derek Landy whose first script, Dead Bodies, was produced last year

Boy Eats Girl willshoot for three weeks in Dublin before going to the Isle of Man for a furtherthree weeks principal photography. The film is an Irish/UK co-productionbetween Element Films and Lunar Films. It is funded by the Irish Film Board,Isle of Man Film Ltd, Section 481, Sale & Leaseback, Bank of Ireland, andby a number of international distributors. The film will be distributedinternationally by Odyssey Entertainment Ltd.

Executive Producers Ralph Kamp and Louise Goodsill ofOdyssey Entertainment expressed their enthusiasm for the project saying, "Weall loved the script, which oozes humour, horror and heart in equal measure."
