Lionsgate distributes John Singleton’s thriller starring Taylor Lautner, which opened in theatres last September.
Facebook viewers will be able to unlock an exclusive interview with Lautner when they answer a trivia question while watching the film. The PG-13 thriller will cost $3.99.
Another new feature will allow users to interact with poll questions during the presentation. Both facilities result from Lionsgate’s partnership on the release with San Francisco-based social cinema technology company Milyoni.
“We are excited to offer our highly social, tech-savvy movie fans a whole new experience with the release of Abduction on Facebook,” Lionsgate’s evp of home entertainment marketing Anne Parducci said.
“By leveraging the built-in social backdrop of Facebook and the tremendous reach of the platform, plus the opportunity to see special content featuring Taylor, we hope to offer fans a truly exhilarating viewing experience.”
IFC Midnight will stream Tom Six’s The Human Centipede Part 2 on Facebook for one-month prior to the DVD release on Feb 14. The distributor released the horror sequel theatrically on Oct 7 last year.
