Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group (SPWAG) has picked up all US rights from Arclight to the Berlin Panorama hit Red Hill.

Patrick Hughes’ Australian neo-western was one of the hottest titles at the EFM and stars Ryan Kwanten as a police officer newly arrived with his family in a small town who must confront a convict bent on revenge.

Steve Bisley and Tom E Lewis round out the key cast. Al Clark produced alongside writer-director Hughes. No release date has been set and it remains to be seen which of SPWAG’s partners, who include Apparition and Samuel Goldwyn Films should a decision be made to go outside the Sony fold, will handle the US release

Arclight president of sales and acquisitions Mark Lindsay and co-chairman and managing director Gary Hamilton negotiated the deal with SPWAG’s vice-president of acquisitions and productions Scott Shooman and vice-president of business affairs Dan Primozic.

“For a first-time director, Patrick shows remarkable skill, and we are thrilled to have Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group on board distributing it in the US,” Lindsay said.

Arclight is handling worldwide sales and sold UK rights to Momentum in Berlin.
