Bleiberg Entertainment has picked up international sales rights to writer-director Matt Osterman’s thriller Phasma Ex Machina.

Senior vice-president of worldwide sales Roman Kopelevich is in Toronto talking to buyers about the story of three men who decipher a series of strange events and discover the distance between the living and the dead is closer than they thought.

XYZ Films is handling the domestic sales on the film, which received its world premiere in Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival in July and will screen at the Lund International Fantastic Film Festival later this month.

Bleiberg’s Kopelevich and head of acquisitions Nick Donnermeyer brokered the deal with XYZ’s Nate Bolotin and Aram Tertzakian.

Bleiberg’s recent productions include Toronto entry Precious Life, The Assassin Next Door starring Olga Kurylenko, Paul Schrader’s Adam Resurrected with Jeff Goldblum and Willem Dafoe, and The Band’s Visit.

XYZ Films was founded by partners Bolotin, Tertzakian and Nick Spicer. Its production slate includes a heist film to be directed by Darren Aronofsky, action thriller Land Of The Free to be directed by Ric Roman Waugh, and a crime thriller about John DeLorean.
