The UK based company has secured UK distribution rights for the film from MPower Distribution.

London based High Fliers Films has picked up UK distribution rights to Mpower Pictures’ feature The Stoning Of Soraya M.

Based on journalist Freidoune Sahebjam’s book about theexecution of a woman falsely accused of adultery in an Iranian village, the film is directed by US film-maker Cyrus Nowrasteh and stars Mozhan Marno, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Jim Caviezel.

It was released in the US last June by Roadside Attractions. MPower Distribution has already sold the film to a number of territories including Australia and New Zealand (Accent Film), Spain (European Dreams Factory) and Latin America (VIP 2000).

Head of acquisitions at High Flier Films, Tom Stewart said: “We’re thrilled to bring such a powerful and evocative drama to UK audiences at last, showcasing such strong performances from a wonderful, international cast”.
