K5 International has sold Bille August’s Night Train To Lisbon to Eastern Europe (EEAP ), Latin America (Swen), and Italy (Archibald).
Jeremy Irons leads the cast of the film about an uptight Swiss professor who goes on a life-changing journey to Portugal. The story is based on the bestselling novel by Pascal Mercier.
The cast also includes Melanie Laurent, Jack Huston, Martina Gedeck, August Diehl, Bruno Ganz, Lena Olin, Christopher Lee and Charlotte Rampling.
The film is produced by Studio Hamburg FilmProduktion and C-FILMS AG Zuerich, in co-production with C-Films Deutschland GmbH, Cinemate Portugal and with Tele Muenchen Group.
Shooting took place from March through early May in Berne and Lisbon.
The film is supported by FFHSH, FFA, MBB, DFFF, Eurimages, Media, Zuercher Filmstiftung, Bundesamt für Kultur BAK, ICA, and by Schweizer Fernsehen SRF and Teleclub.
Concorde has German rights and Frenetic has Swiss.
