Momentum/Alliance FIlms has taken UK and Canada rights to John Hillcoat’s The Road follow up The Wettest County In The World – currently shooting in US - from FilmNation.

The crime-drama centred on a family of Depression-era bootleggers in the American South features an all-star cast of Shia LaBeouf, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Guy Pearce and Tom Hardy, with a script written by Hillcoat’s The Proposition collaborator Nick Cave.

Lucy Fisher and Doug Wick are producing with Michael Benaroya of Benaroya Pictures and Megan Ellison.

In a bid to replicate the success it achieved in the UK and Canada with the Millenium trilogy, Momentum/Alliance Films has also acquired UK and Canadian rights to the latest high-end Scandinavian crime thriller Headhunters, the anticipated adaptation of Norwegian writer Jo Nesbo’s best-selling novel.

Produced by Millenium producer Yellow Bird Films and Norwegian outfit Friland, Headhunters  - currently in post production - tells the story of a notorious corporate headhunter who moonlights as an art thief. Aksel Hennie (Max Manus) stars as protagonist Roger Brown.

The film will be released by Magnolia in the US.
