It emerged on Wednesday  that The DGA nominee – eying a seventh best director Oscar nomination on Thursday – has postponed start of production on the sci-fi adaptation.
It is understood Spielberg put the brakes on the Fox-Dreamworks co-financed project due to script and budget issues. However there was no indication that he intended to drop out.
Buena Vista holds North American rights pursuant to its standing arrangement with Dreamworks and issued a scheduling statement saying Robopocalypse was now listed as “undated” and had been pulled from its Apr 24 2014 slot.
- Separately, Spielberg has remastered his pop culture favourite Jurassic Park into 3D in time for a one-week Imax run beginning on Apr 5.
