Sundance Institute and the President’s Committee On The Arts And The Humanities have renewed their initiative to promote cinema to diverse global audiences.
The National Endowment Of The Arts, National Endowment For The Humanities and Institute Of Museum And Library Services are also involved.
This year’s selection comprises some of the most acclaimed entries from Sundance 2011. They are: Another Earth (pictured), Beginners, Bran Nue Dae, Buck, Grbavica, The Green Wave, On the Ice, Senna, Somewhere Between and Unfinished Spaces.
The programme will travel within the US to Central Valley, California, Chickasaw Nation, Oklahoma, Tucson, Arizona and Puerto Rico. Internationally the itinerary includes China, Colombia, India, Morocco and a special presentation at UNESCO in Paris.
“What we learned from the first year of the programme was that people can relate to personal stories on a larger level, despite cultural differences and geographic boundaries,” Sundance Institute founder Robert Redford said. “We saw that there is much more work to be done and that initiatives like Film Forward are making a difference,”
Film Forward filmmakers will go on the road to present their work and participate in master classes, discussion panels, Q&A’s and other engagements with audiences.
