Hong Kong video-on-demand (VoD) service Anyplex has signed a content licensing deal with Sony Pictures Television (SPT), covering blockbuster titles such as 2012,Michael Jackson’s This Is It and Angels & Demons.

The titles will be streamed from the internet directly to Anyplex-embedded digital TVs or set-top boxes, without the need to sign up to Hong Kong’s existing IPTV or cable platforms. Pricing is on-demand and pay-per-view, rather than via a monthly subscription fee, which has been the model commonly used in Hong Kong.

Also included in the deal are An Education, Julie & Julia, Kung-fu Hustle, Spider-Man 2 and Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines.
