The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) has announced the five nominees for the 4th annual Gotham Independent Film Audience Award.

The nominees are: 12 Years A Slave, Fruitvale Station (pictured), Best Kept Secret, Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey and Jake Shimabukuro: Life On Four Strings.

To be eligible, a US film must have won an audience award at one of the top 50 US or Canadian film festivals from December 2012 through October 2013.  The winner will be revealed at the Gotham Awards ceremony.

“IFP’s Gotham Independent Film Audience Award, in partnership with Festival Genius, showcase films from the festival circuit that have captured audience attention and passion,” said Joana Vicente, executive director of IFP and the Made in NY Media Center by IFP.

“We are very proud to provide this platform for audiences to vote for their favorite films of the year and recognise the winner as part of the Gotham Independent Film Awards.”

Round two voting to select a final winner begins on November 8 and ends on November 24. The award is voted on by the independent film community and film fans worldwide.
