Jonathan English’s Ironclad has completed its casting and has now begun principal photography on location and at Dragon International Film Studios.

ContentFilm International is selling worldwide rights to medieval action thriller, directed by Jonathan English (Minotaur) from a script by English and Erick Kastel. The feature is produced by Mythic’s Rick Benattar (Shoot ‘em Up) and Andrew Curtis (Lost In La Mancha).

Alongside Paul Giamatti and James Purefoy, the cast now includes Brian Cox. Derek Jacobi. Jamie Foreman, Jason Flemying, Mackenzie Crook, Kate Mara Charles Dance, Rhys Parry Jones, Vladimir Kulick, Bree Condon and making his screen debut, Aneurin Barnard.

Producer Benattar said: ‘We are thrilled to be working with Content on this very special film, Jonathan and Erick have written a gritty script based on one of the bloodiest battles in world history. We hope to bring a sense of kinetic energy, which will make the viewer feel as if they are right in the thick of it, to the screen and with our amazing cast feel that the film will truly be spectacular.’

ContentFilm International will be screening early footage from the film at the AFM in Santa Monica.
