Frenchacting legend Jeanne Moreau has outlined plans for the Ateliers d'Angers, aresidency programme for budding filmmakers.

Thoughsmaller in scale, the project is similar to the Cannes Film Festival Residenceor the Sundance screenwriting workshop, bringing together 12 young Europeandirectors for 10 days beginning July 1.

The workshopswill act as an intensive training and exchange session under the aegis of thePremiers Plans Festival of Angers and the direction of Moreau and Polishdirector Krysztof Zanussi.

Filmmakersfrom France, Belgium,Spain, Hungaryand Portugal will rubshoulders with such talent as Canneslaureates Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, set designers Dan Weil and ChristianGuillon of Big Blue and Podium fame respectively andcinematographers Gerard de Battista and Philippe Ros among others.

The workshopsare supported by the EC's Media Programme along with the town of Angers,the Pays de la Loire region, the culture minister and the general council ofthe Maine and Loireregion.

The budgetthis year is $200,000.
