‘Handbook For Superheroes - Red Mask’

EXCLUSIVE: Reinvent Yellow has boarded international sales on animation Handbook For Superheroes - Red Mask.

The film is currently in post-production; SF Studios will release it in cinemas in Sweden this Christmas.

Handbook For Superheroes - Red Mask is directed by Patrik Forsberg, and written by Anoo Bhagavan. Adapted from the books by Agnes Vahlund and Elias Vahlund, it follows Lisa, a 10-year-old girl who is being bullied in her decaying town, who finds a book that teaches her to become a superhero named Red Mask.

The film is produced by Forsberg and Caroline Forsberg for Sweden’s Stiller Studios, and by Qvisten Animation, SVT and SF Studios.

Backers include the Swedish Film Institute, Norwegian Film Institute and Nordisk Film & TV Fund.

It is one of the first acquisitions since the merger earlier this month of Yellow Film Studios and sales firm Reinvent to create production, sales and financing firm Reinvent Yellow.

“With millions of readers and viewers already captivated by Lisa’s journey, this franchise proves that the world is more than ready - and deeply in need of - more female superheroes,” said Rikke Ennis, deputy CEO at Reinvent Yellow. “The combination of heart, empowerment, and cutting-edge animation technology makes this story truly universal.”

”We are confident that Handbook For Superheroes will captivate audiences across many territories,” said Reinvent Yellow chief sales officer Helene Auro. ”Its universal themes and strong emotional core will resonate with viewers of all ages.”

Reinvent will sell the film at next month’s American Film Market (November 11-16).
