Korea’s M-Line Distribution is launching sales on the sci-fi drama Doomsday Book, co-directed by Kim Jee-woon and Yim Pil-sung, at the EFM.

The $5m film comprises three short stories – the first about a robot achieving enlightenment, the second about a zombie invasion and the third about a meteor wiping out mankind.

Kim, whose credits include I Saw The Devil and The Good, The Bad, The Weird, started working on the film in 2007, but it was placed on hold when the financing fell apart. He started shooting again in 2010 with backing from a new investor, Timestory.

Produced by Zio Entertainment, the film is currently in post-production for a tentative Korean release in March. The high-profile cast includes Kim Kang-woo (Hello, Schoolgirl), Park Hae-il (War Of The Arrows) and Song Sae-byeok (Sector 7).

Yim, who co-directed with Kim, is also well-known internationally with credits such as Hansel And Gretel and The Antarctic Journal.

M-Line is also introducing mystery melodrama Gabi, directed by Chang Yoon-hyun, about a Chosun dynasty emperor who is addicted to coffee, unaware that his enemies are using it to poison him. The Seoul-based sales outfit is also handling Lee Kwang-kuk’s Romance Joe which recently screened at Rotterdam.
