EXCLUSIVE: Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg are creating a new Benelux co-development fund that is being launched in Cannes today (May 17) as part of efforts to showcase the Benelux as a key co-production territory within the European landscape.
The Flemish Audiovisual Fund, the Centre du Cinéma et de l’Audiovisuel in Wallonia-Brussels, the Netherlands Film Fund and the Film Fund Luxembourg are all behind the new fund.
Filmmakers with live action fiction and animation projects will now be able to apply for a development grant of €50,000 per project.
The aim is to make it easier for filmmakers across the Benelux to coproduce together on projects like Sven Bresser’s Dutch-Belgian collaboration Reedland, screening here in Critics’ Week.
Related activities will include joint promotional activities at international festival and markets.
