EXCLUSIVE: The UK’s Cornerstone Films has boarded Courteney Cox’s Evil Genius for international sales, ahead of its world premiere in Gala Presentations at TIFF tonight.
Patricia Arquette and David Harbour star in the true crime film, inspired by the 2018 Netflix series of the same name from Barbara Schroeder and Trey Borzillieri recounting the 2003 ’pizza bomber’ case in Pennsylvania.
US outfit August Night Pictures is financing, producing and selling North America alongside Aggregate Films’ Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan and John Buderwitz.
Further cast includes Michael Chernus, Garret Dillahunt and Danielle Macdonald.
Cox previously directed 2012 TV movie Talhotblond, also based on a Schroeder documentary, and 2014 Tribeca premiere Just Before I Go.
Cornerstone’s TIFF slate also includes Theo Rhys’s Discovery world premiere Stuffed and Mike Leigh’s Tender Loving Care in Special Presentations.
