Production is underway in the UK on A Long And Happy Life, the first feature from Curzon’s in-house talent initiative Curzon Creates.
The film has been developed by staff members at Curzon Mayfair cinema in London with filming taking place at the venue over the coming weeks.
Curzon Creates offers all staff access to tools, mentorship and industry connections to help develop their skills. The programme includes year-round writers’ workshops, practical training and exclusive events with leading industry experts. Around 30 people are currently enrolled in the workshops, with the hope of developing further projects.
A Long And Happy Life is set during the last day of operations at the cinema, as six members of staff struggle to come to terms with the closure of their beloved workplace.
Felix Kai wrote the script while Ishtar Currie-Wilson directs and Sophie Wardman produces; all are Curzon staff members.
Curzon’s head of development Kristian Brodie is executive producer, along with executive chairman Philip Knatchbull and chief operating officer Laura Ferguson.
The aim is for Curzon to distribute the feature in the UK and Ireland and seek representation for international sales.
