EXCLUSIVE: German sales outfit Epsilon has been racking up pre-sales on new animated feature Nessie Junior, to which Stephen Donnelly is now attached as a director. Donnelly recently directed Scrooge: A Christmas Carol for Netflix.
Deals are confirmed with Portugal (NOS), the Middle East (Selim Ramia & Co), Greece (Spentzos), the Baltics (ACME), Ukraine (Green Light), Ex-Yugoslavia (Investacommerce), Israel (LEV Films), Turkey (Filmarti), Bulgaria (Pro Films), and Russia (Volga).
Nessie Junior, which sees the young sea monster partner with a teenage girl to uncover secrets about his origins, is the first in-house development project by Epsilon Film, the joint venture between Alice von Einem (née Buquoy) and Julia Weber, both ex-Global Screen executives, and the Beta Group.
It is funded by the regional fund MFG (Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg).
The screenplay recently won an award at Stuttgart International Festival Of Animated Film “for the screenplay with the greatest international market potential”.
