‘Twice Colonized’

Film Movement has picked up US theatrical and home entertainment rights to Lin Alluna’s CPH:DOX opening night selection Twice Colonized.

Alluna’s feature directorial debut centres on renowned Greenlandic Inuit lawyer and activist Aaju Peter as she embarks on a personal journey to bring her colonisers in both Canada and Denmark to justice.

As Peter attempts to establish an Indigenous forum at the European Union, she tries to mend her own wounds made worse by the death of her youngest son.

Peter was the subject of the 2016 documentary Angry Inuk, which Film Movement distributed.

Twice Colonized premiered at Sundance this year and will open in cinemas in 2024 followed by home entertainment and digital platforms after a short qualifying run for the 96th Academy Awards.

The documentary was nominated for the Politiken: DOX Award and Next:Wave Award at CPH:DOX and best documentary at the Jerusalem Film Festival. It was an Official Selection at the Docs Against Gravity Film Festival, Movies That Matter Festival, and Sheffield Doc Fest.

“We’re excited to again be distributing a powerful and timely documentary featuring the unforgettable Aaju Peter,” said Film Movement president Michael Rosenberg. “And we are pleased to add Lin Alluna to the ranks of woman directors whose films we have brought to American audiences.”

Film Movement brokered the deal with CEO Salma Abdalla and Jason Resnick of Autlook Filmsales.
