EXCLUSIVE: TrustNordisk has boarded world sales on Igor Plischke’s film theft documentary The Talented Mr. F.

It will launch sales at this week’s American Film Market (AFM, November 11-16).

Filmed in Berlin, Germany and the US earlier this year, The Talented Mr. F. follows two aspiring filmmakers who discover that their animated short film has been stolen by an American posing as the actual director. They set off on a journey from Germany to West Virginia, US, to uncover the truth and confront the alleged imposter.

The film is produced by Christopher Zwickler and Solmaz Sohrabi from Germany’s Flimmer, in collaboration with MDR, ARD Kultur, RBB, HR and BR. Creative producers are Moritz Henneberg, Julius Drost and Nikita Fedosik. The Day After Tomorrow director Roland Emmerich has joined the project as an executive producer to support the film’s international rollout.

Describing the film as “a sharp and compelling documentary”, TrustNordisk managing director Susan Wendt said, “It’s a film that explores creativity, ownership, and deception in the digital age - and keeps you hooked until the very end.”
