Spanish outfit prep new TV series I Know Who You Are following success of The Red Band Society.

As it ups its interest in TV, revitalised Spanish outfit Filmax is reaping the benefits of the success of its television drama The Red Band Society.

The series about a group of teenagers living in a hospital, has been successfully re-made for US TV and has also recently been a hit in Italy.

Now, the team behind the drama series is preparing a new series, thriller I Know Who You Are.The show is likely to run for two seasons with 10 episodes each season.

The first series is planned to shoot in early 2015.

“We are just in development but we already have the pilot, the script, and these guys are really very talented. The Red Band Society was a new approach to a hospital show. I Know Who You Are is a new approach to a lawyer show,” commented Ivan Diaz, head of Filmax International Division.

“We are taking TV very seriously. Of course, feature films is still the main activity for us but we want to be very serious with our TV partners.”

Diaz wouldn’t be drawn on whether there might be film spin-offs from TV dramas like The Red Band Society.

Here at the Marché, Filmax is reporting strong buyer in Albert Marini’s English language horror pic Summer Camp. The film is in post-production and the first promo is screening at the Festival.

Filmax and the Safran Company partnered on the project which is coproduced by Rebelion Terrestre.

The company is already on pre-production on Sweet Home, directed by Rafael Martinez.

Pantelion Films (the partnership between Lionsgate and Mexican company Televisia) will handle North American distribution.

Filmax is also moving ahead on its Spanish-language slate. Agusti Villaronga’s Cuban-set erotic drama The King Of Havana is in pre-production and due to shoot in the early autumn as is black comedy Stranded.
