Poetry, Hahaha, Carancho, Bedevilled score multiple international sales after festival.

Korea-based sales agent FineCut has announced a slew of deals on its Cannes titles including Lee Chang-dong’s competition entry Poetry, Hong Sang-soo’s Un Certain Regard award-winner Hahaha, Pablo Trapero’s Un Certain Regard entry Carancho, and Jang Cheol-soo’s Critics’ Week entry Bedevilled.

Cannes Best Screenplay Award winner Poetry added deals to Clip Arte for Greece, Imovision for Brazil, Intercinema for ex-USSR excluding Baltic States, and Lumiere for Benelux. Previously announced deals included those to Kino Lorber for the US, Diaphana for France, and Golem for Spain.

Argentinean director Pablo Trapero’s Un Certain Regard title Carancho sold to Strand Releasing for US, Clip Arte for Greece, and Golem Distribution for Spain. The film had pre-sold to Ad Vitam for French-speaking territories, and is getting interest for remake rights.
Hong Sang-soo’s Hahaha sold to Taiwan’s Catchplay, which also bought Iris: The Movie.

Jang Cheol-soo’s feature debut Bedevilled sold to Bir Film for Turkey, Optimum Releasing for UK, Maywin Films for ex-USSR, and Catchplay for Taiwan.

FineCut did additional pre-sales for the Korean War film 71 - Into The Fire, selling it to Maywin Films for ex-USSR and Festive Films for Singapore. The film previously sold to Showbox (UK) and Ascot Elite (Germany and Switzerland). Lotte Entertainment will release the film on approximately 500 screens June 16 in Korea.

Finecut also closed a package deal with Bir Film for Like You Know It All, Crossing, Daytime Drinking and Iris. Japan’s SPO picked up Twilight Gangsters, Daytime Drinking and My Dear Enemy.
