Indonesian director Kamila Andini’s latest film Four Seasons In Java revealed its local and international production consortium and a first-look teaser on the first day of JAFF Market on Saturday (November 29).
Production company Forka Films has assembled a league of major Indonesian industry players to back the highly anticipated film, which is set for release in 2026. It marks the first feature since Kamila’s 2022 Berlinale competitor Before, Now & Then, winner of a Silver Bear for best supporting performance.
The local partners - comprising Miles Films, Imajinari, Jagartha, Trinity, Team Up, Julie Estelle, and Navvaros - offer expertise from development through release, combining creativity, production and marketing into a single ecosystem.
The film is also supported by international funding bodies including Hubert Bals Fund Development, Hubert Bals Fund + Netherlands Film Fund and Sorfond – The Norwegian South Film Fund.
It is set as an international collaboration between Forka Films and Storm Films (Norway), Lemming Films (Netherlands), One Two Films (Germany), Ici Et La Production (France), Giraffe Pictures (Singapore), PFX (Poland), Brand Film (Indonesia) and Chada Entertainment (Thailand).
The cast is led by Putri Marino who plays a sexual assault survivor who returns to her village after being released from prison. Her reappearance is unwanted, even among her family, which takes her on a journey to redefine her own meaning of home and peace.
Arya Saloka, Christine Hakim and Hana Pitrashata Malasan also join the cast. The screenplay is written by Kamila, with her husband Ifa Isfansyah from Forka Films as producer. It was shot in Bromo, East Java.
The project won two prizes at the recent Tokyo Gap-Financing Market, including the top Tokyo Project Award.
