Netflix India has entered into a long-term deal with Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment to produce films, fiction and non-fiction series that will be streamed exclusively on the Netflix platform worldwide.

Johar has already worked with Netflix as one of the directors on anthology films, Lust Stories (2018), and the upcoming Ghost Stories.

Netflix did not reveal any details of the projects that it would be developing with Dharmatic, a division of Johar’s Dharma Productions, which focuses on producing for streaming platforms. However, Dharmatic is already working with Netflix on Guilty, a film directed by Ruchi Narain and starring Kiara Advani.

Bela Bajaria, vice president, International Originals, Netflix, said: “Johar and Dharmatic Entertainment will have all the creative freedom and support they need to create pioneering dramas and unscripted series – as well as films – for our members all over the world.”

Johar has directed blockbusters such as My Name Is Khan and Student Of The Year, and also produces films from other directors through Dharma, including last year’s hits Raazi and Simmba.
