Black Mirror has been renewed for a fifth season by streaming giant Netflix.

The news was revealed via a tweet from the series’ official Twitter account, see below.

The 20-second video in the tweet reveals a selection of screens showing previous Black Mirror episodes, including 15 Million Merits and San Junipero.

Created by Charlie Brooker, the first two seasons of the show appeared on Channel 4 in 2011 and 2013. Netflix picked up rights to the series in December 2014 before premiering the third season in October 2016.

The fourth season, released on 29 December 2017, comprised of six episodes, with Andrea Riseborough, Jesse Plemons and Letitia Wright amongst the cast in the single-episode storylines.
