Netflix has agreed a landmark deal with TF1 that will allow its subscribers in France to watch the French broadcaster’s live channels and on-demand content on the streaming platform.
TF1 content such as scripted dramas, soaps and unscripted series through to live sports will be available from summer 2026 as part of the Netflix offer.
The streamer said the agreement would enable its subscribers to watch TF1 content “without ever having to leave the service”.
TF1 and Netflix have previously worked together on co-productions such as Les Combattantes, L’Agence and Tout Le Bleu Du Ciel.
The deal potentially paves the way for more partnerships between Netflix and traditional broadcasters, which are struggling with declining audiences and advertising revenues as viewers increasingly watch TV online or via streaming services.
“This is a first-of-its-kind partnership that plays to our strengths of giving audiences the best entertainment alongside the best discovery experience,” said Greg Peters, co-CEO of Netflix. “By teaming up with France’s leading broadcaster, we will provide French consumers with even more reasons to come to Netflix every day and to stay with us for all their entertainment.”
Rodolphe Belmer, CEO of TF1 Group, said: “As viewing habits shift toward on-demand consumption and audience fragmentation increases, this unprecedented alliance will enable our premium content to reach unparalleled audiences and unlock new reach for advertisers within an ecosystem that perfectly complements our TF1+ platform.”
