Paramount Pictures and James Mangold have struck an overall deal after the studio snapped up the filmmaker’s Timothée Chalamet heist project High Side in August.

Mangold will develop, direct, and produce features for the studio and the arrangement brings another coveted creator into the fold for Paramount Pictures co-chairs Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg.

His credits include the Chalamet collaboration A Complete Unknown, Ford v Ferrari, and Logan, which variously earned him Oscar nominations for directing and shared nods for best picture and screenplay.

Jaimie Oliveira will adapt High Side from his unpublished story about a former Motocross racer who gets recruited by his estranged brother to rob banks after their father dies.

The package is described as Heat meets Hell Or High Water and will be produced by Mangold and Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin and David Ready.

In August Paramount closed a multi-year exclusive deal with Stranger Things creators The Duffer Brothers to create film, television, and streaming projects.
