
Rome’s MIA market has unveiled new film and animation financing initiatives for its 12th edition, which takes place October 19-23.
New for 2026 is the European Investment Hub (EIH), billed as a platform focused on European and international financial instruments supporting the audiovisual industry.
MIA is also launching a programme dedicated to animated series, the Animation Series Gap Financing Market, aimed at projects already supported by broadcasters and partially financed.
MIA said its Co-Production Market & Pitching Forum has been re-organised, offering pitching forums for films, documentaries and series in development looking to meet financiers, buyers, distributors and international co-producers.
Works in progress will also be presented in MIA content showcases: C EU SOON for European and international fiction and animation films; GREENlit for European scripted series (drama and comedy); Italian Series Animation Showcase for Italian animated series; and Italians Doc It Better for Italian documentary films and docuseries.
MIA’s Buyers Club programme, focused on the sale of films intended for theatrical distribution will include Comin’UP, which sees sales agent present their slates to international buyers and festival representatives. The Buyers Club will also include networking activities and private screenings, organised by the Rome Film Fest and Alice nella Città, and also open to international buyers accredited to MIA.
MIA will also launch CASA MIA, a networking lounge for accredited participants.
MIA’s 2026 edition was unveiled at the Italian Pavilion in Cannes by Italy’s ANICA (Italian Association of Film, Audiovisual and Digital Industries) and APA (Italian Audiovisual Producers Association).
